How much do wedding videographers cost?
There’s no direct answer to this question, as each videographer will quote you their own rates. However, the average price for a wedding video with a full day’s shooting and a 90 minute to 2-hour final edit, will cost anywhere between $2,000 and $5,000. You’ll find more expensive (and cheaper), determined by the service, skill and reputation of the videographer.
Before deciding:
Before deciding:
- Don’t make your choice on price alone; there’s more to video than you might think
- It's essential to find someone you trust - there is only one shot at your wedding video
- Knowledge of the venue is a significant bonus, so ask your wedding venue if they have a recommended videographer.
What to Consider When Choosing a Videographer
To make sure you get the best wedding video, here are four considerations
- Do they know the venue? As mentioned above, a professional with experience of the venue will know where the best places to film from are located and will be familiar with the layout.
- Special shots: do you have any unique shots in mind, perhaps of bride and groom alone, relaxed or staged? If so, discuss with the videographer.
- Editing ability: do they edit the video themselves, or do they have an experienced editor? The videographer is not always the best person to cut the final edit.
- Your input: you both want to have input into the final result regarding its length, how it looks, the running order and so on. Make sure the videographer is working for you, and not delivering their own ideas.
How do I pay a Videographer?
Most Videographers will require a deposit upfront, accept a range of payment methods, including
Know this: When you sign a contract, you'll commit to a deposit and paying a balance before the wedding date. Most videographers charge either a 50% retainer + 50% balance due before the wedding, or a 33% retainer + 33% 3-6 months before the wedding + balance due before the wedding. This means you'll need to pay a sum upfront to secure the videographer. If you're unsure of anything, ask before you sign the contract.
- Direct Credit (internet banking)
- Cheque
- Cash with invoice
- Credit Card via the videographer’s website (a surcharge may apply)
- On-site Eftpos
