Advertising Policy and Disclosure
Updated 8 June 2020
To provide independent, objective and 100% unbiased content, MoneyHub.co.nz generates income from this site in a few ways:
Display advertisingThe first income source is generated from advertisements you see showing up on individual pages. These spaces are contracted through the Google Adsense, and MoneyHub.co.nz has no influence or control in what advertisers are selected, or what ads are shown. Some pages are purposely advert-free, such as most student-related guides, specific investment platform guides, and other core pages.

Affiliate relationshipsThe second source of income is deduced from affiliate relationships. Our process is always to write a guide first, and then, after publication, reach out to the relevant entity to offer an advert-free guide. As with all aspects of MoneyHub, we only wish to promote products we believe are market-leading. For this reason, we rarely reach out to entities.
Day to day, we believe in sharing the best deals we can find in the market, and will also do this irrespective of any commercial arrangement. At present, the following companies offer a potential commission per sale:
We are inundated with requests on a daily basis from companies wanting exposure on MoneyHub.co.nz. We ignore all such requests. Only in rare cases, such as where the product or service is market-leading (i.e. those listed above) will you find outbound links from MoneyHub.co.nz to their website. In such instances, only our sales team will initiate any potential relationship. Trades We also have a range of trade service providers who pay a monthly to elevate their positioning on specific pages, as well as have buttons and click-through phone numbers. We invite certain professionals that our research team believes are among the best in the business to enhance their listing, and continue to ensure their services are industry-leading. We are not paid per signup. Trading, Platforms, Insurers and Managed Funds We have a number of commercial arrangements with share trading platforms and fund managers. These include Hatch, Stake, Sharesies and others. We are not paid per signup or successful initial transaction. Instead, we charge a monthly fee to promote them through our social channels, newsletter and enhance the page with multiple links to their website. Email Distributions We may, in some instances, distribute emails to our subscribers based on share goals - brand awareness, raising awareness of products and/or concepts, and special promotions. In such instances, we will mark these as "in collaboration with". |
Sponsored postsIn rare cases, we will brand an existing guide with a relevant entity’s branding. The content is not ‘sponsored’ by definition in that it is not promoting the entity directly. Nonetheless, in such cases, MoneyHub will always label the page with additional disclosure about the partnership, so that you know the content itself is objective, but supported by a related entity. You can see an example here. Any partner content does not promote the partner beyond brand awareness.
We have carefully reviewed the comprehensive Advertising Standards Authority codes for general advertising and financial advertising codes, and continue to follow the best-best practice guidance. MoneyHub is not an ASA member, nor does it pay any ASA levies. |
