What is Opinion World?

Opinion World gives you a chance to share your opinion with the world and get paid for it. However, the money you receive will not pay the bills (or even get close to it). However, it is arguably a harmless side gig that brings in another source of income, even if it only covers a couple of cups of coffee. Opinion World offers a little more than just surveys; you can test products, watch ads, and even participate in activities throughout New Zealand – providing your opinion and getting paid for it. 

How does it work?
  • You must be 18 years or older to apply
  • It’s simple to sign up – complete their one-page form and you’re in
  • You’ll need to complete a profile, which could take some time, but it qualifies you for more surveys; without it, you may not receive many offers
  • There’s no guarantee you’ll get surveys; it depends on the required demographics of their customers and whether you meet them
  • Most Opinion World surveys take 10 – 15 minutes, but longer surveys pay more money
  • Opinion World pays in points, which you can redeem for cash
  • All points and earnings expire after one year

Opinion World Payouts

Opinion World pays out in two ways – cash via PayPal or a Flexi eGiftcard. To receive your money via PayPal, you’ll need a valid PayPal account. If you don’t have one, sign up for one with the same email address you used for your Opinion World account. 
  • If you already have a PayPal account, but it’s under a different email address, update your Opinion World account with the email address, so you get paid.
  • If you’d prefer to receive your money as a gift card, the Flexi eGiftcard allows you to shop anywhere – you aren’t stuck with money at one specific store.

Opinion World Levels

Opinion World has levels, five levels to be exact. To reach higher levels, you must achieve specific milestones. The badges themselves don’t mean much, but they may give you access to more survey opportunities or even higher-paying opportunities.

Here are the levels:
  • Bronze – Everyone starts here. After you sign up for an account and activate your account, you are a bronze level.
  • Silver – After you complete your first activity and have at least 25% of your profile completed, you’ll reach silver. You must complete one activity a week to maintain this level.
  • Gold – Gold members have done ten activities, have 50% of their profile completed, and take surveys for two consecutive weeks.
  • Platinum – Once you achieve 25 activities, take surveys for four consecutive weeks, and complete 75% of your profile, you’ll reach platinum.
  • Diamond – This the top tier. To reach it, you must have 100% of your profile completed, complete 50 activities, and take a survey for at least four weeks in a row.

Know This: To maintain your level, you should answer at least one activity a week and keep your profile updated. If anything changes, such as your car or the technology you own, update your profile, so you get chances to answer more surveys.

Opinion World - Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Opinion World makes it fun to provide your opinion with surveys and other activities (but mostly surveys)
  • The more information you provide on your profile and the more frequently you update it, the more offers you’ll receive
  • You get rewarded for being more active by climbing levels and having access to more opportunities
  • You can cash out once you earn at least $10
 
Cons:
  • You must give out a lot of private information to be matched with surveys. The more information you provide, the more surveys you receive.
  • There’s no guarantee you’ll receive any surveys or a certain number. It depends on the needs of each company and your demographics. 
  • Your rewards expire after 12 months if you don’t use them, even if you’re active on the platform. 

Our View:
  • Don’t use Opinion World as your main income or even a part-time income. It’s spare cash you can use as fun money.
  • Opinion World makes it fun to share your opinion or even try new products. It’s a great way to let companies know what consumers like/don’t like.
  • If you already waste time on your phone, this can be a better use of your time since you’ll make money doing it.
  • Don’t get discouraged if you go a while with no survey opportunities. They may come in waves; it all depends on what companies need.

The profile is the key to getting survey opportunities on Opinion World

The profile is the bread and butter of your earning opportunities with Opinion World. It’s a pain to complete it, but it’s what makes you the money. They say it will take around 30 minutes to complete the profile, but they also suggest that you update it often. If you buy a new car, a new phone, or change jobs, they recommend updating your portfolio to reflect it.

It may feel like a lot, and you are divulging quite a bit of personal information, but this is how they figure out if you fit the demographic they’re trying to survey.

Survey invites come and go

It may feel like sometimes you get a ton of survey invites, and then you’ll go weeks or months with nothing. It’s the nature of the beast. The more detailed you are in your profile, the more opportunities you’ll get, but there’s no guarantee.

Companies have different needs, and they’ll be specific about the audience they want to survey. Sometimes you’ll fit the survey, and sometimes you won’t; it varies all the time. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear from them for a while, but if too much time passes, consider revisiting your portfolio and see if anything has changed that may help.

Getting paid via PayPal is the most helpful

You can use PayPal funds just about anywhere, so it’s a great way to get paid. Just watch out for PayPal fees. They may keep 2% of your earnings, which may seem like a lot, but when you’re earning $10, they keep $2. That’s why we said it’s ‘fun money and not anything you should rely on – do the surveys because you want to help other companies and consider the money a bonus.

The more detailed you make your profile, the more opportunities you’ll get

It may feel weird to say you have a 10-year old and 13-year old son or you drive a Honda Odyssey, but Opinion World wants to know these things. The more details you provide about your life, the better they can match you with surveys.

Here’s why:
  • Sometimes companies will want to survey people that drive a certain car, eat a certain food, or use a specific phone.
  • They may even get as detailed as asking people who use a certain operating system on their computer or use a certain app on their phone.
  • Generally, the more information you provide, the better your chances.

It can take a few weeks to get a survey

Opinion World tells you that you’re eligible for surveys right away, but that’s not a guarantee that you’ll receive anything. It could be a few days or a few weeks before you hear anything. Just make sure their emails don’t go to your spam account and you’ll eventually get invited to a survey or activity.

You may not qualify even after receiving an invitation

Opinion World uses ‘screeners’ to determine if you qualify. Even if you qualify based on your profile, it doesn’t mean you’ll qualify for the survey itself. It depends on a few things: 
  • They usually have a quota for the number of people that can take the survey. Once they hit that number, they stop the survey.
  • They may need more details than what you provided in your profile. Your profile may have made you eligible, but the minute details they need may make you ineligible. Don’t get discouraged.

Don’t rely on your earnings from Opinion World

We can’t stress it enough – don’t rely on the money you’ll earn. It’s not predictable, and even with 10 or 20 surveys a month, it won’t amount to much. Think of it as coffee money or money for those little splurges that might not be in your budget, but are something you can do with the money you earn from sharing your opinion.
